There's something special about seeing our community come together for a brand new event, especially one that celebrates so much of what makes Oakdale, well, Oakdale! On October 9 & 10, the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce hosted its inaugural Fall Jubilee & Steak Cook-Off at the Oakdale Rodeo Grounds. From live entertainment and local vendors to family activities and the steak cook-off, it was a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together.
As an Oakdale-based business, SWIFT Site Rentals was proud to sponsor the event by providing portable restrooms and handwashing stations for the Kids Zone. But for us, this sponsorship was also an opportunity to do something a little different…
Oakdale Pride, Right Down to the Porta Potties
If you've seen our portable restrooms around town, you probably recognize our signature green units. For the Fall Jubilee, however, we wanted to give them a little hometown personality. We created custom Oakdale themed graphics inspired by our town's rodeo traditions and Mustang pride. Rather than simply delivering our regular equipment, we wanted our restrooms to feel like they belonged at the event. It's a small detail, but one we're especially proud of.
Portable restrooms aren't typically something people expect to be customized, much less coordinated with the personality of a community celebration. But that's part of what makes our work fun. We genuinely enjoy finding ways to make something as ordinary as a porta potty feel a little more intentional. And for an event celebrating Oakdale, we couldn't think of a better occasion to show off some hometown pride.
Event Sanitation Deserves More Than a Delivery and Pickup
One thing we've learned through working with event organizers is that portable sanitation is often treated as a fairly straightforward transaction: determine how many restrooms are needed, arrange delivery, and schedule pickup when the event is over. Of course, those things are important. But we believe there's quite a bit more that goes into creating a good restroom experience, particularly for community festivals and larger public events.
When we work with an event organizer, we want to understand the event itself. Who's attending? How will guests move through the venue? Where will families spend the most time? Are there food vendors, children's activities, or areas where additional handwashing facilities would be helpful? Those conversations help us think beyond simply providing equipment. Restroom placement, accessibility, handwashing availability, cleanliness, and the overall appearance of the units can all make a difference in how guests experience an event.
For the Fall Jubilee, providing portable restrooms and handwashing stations in the Kids Zone was one way we could contribute to a comfortable, family-friendly environment while supporting an event that brought so much to our community.
Raising the Standard for Portable Restrooms at Events
We know portable restrooms don't always have the greatest reputation. For many people, the expectation is simply that they'll be there when needed, and hopefully they'll be clean. We think the standard can be higher.
At SWIFT, we take pride in providing newer, well-maintained equipment, clean and properly stocked restrooms, and dependable service. Just as importantly, we believe communication and attention to detail should be part of the experience from the first conversation through the final pickup. For larger events, that means working with organizers to understand their needs, thinking through equipment placement, planning for appropriate restroom capacity, and discussing service requirements based on the size and duration of the event.
It can also mean finding opportunities to customize the experience, whether through event-specific graphics, thoughtful restroom layouts, or additional handwashing stations in high-traffic areas. We aren't suggesting that portable restrooms need to become the centerpiece of an event. Quite the opposite. When sanitation is planned well, it blends into the event, works the way it's supposed to, and allows guests and organizers to focus on everything else. That's what we're working toward.

As a locally owned and operated business with roots in Oakdale, it means a lot to be involved in events like the Fall Jubilee. Organizing a community celebration of this scale takes an incredible amount of coordination, and we're thankful we could contribute in our own way.
